About UNSAI

Uganda National Self-Advocacy Initiative(UNSAI)Mental Health for All is a Peer-Led organization of persons with psycho social disabilities in Uganda.

It is located in the rural parts of the country, Kayunga District.

The heightened discriminations against persons with disabilities especially persons with psycho social disabilities intersecting rural and remote areas increasing their marginalization. This is manifesting in many forms of Human rights violations, abuses, neglect and exclusion due to prejudices, stereotypes and misconceptions against persons with psycho social disabilities.

All these have denied persons with psycho social disabilities to live independently and be included in their communities.

Founders of UNSAI are persons with psychosocial disabilities who have experienced human rights violations. So they decided to advocate for their human rights by themselves and the human rights of other persons with disabilities with a great move of Self-Advocacy. So a group of self-advocates with psychosocial disabilities kept growing and finally registered with the Government of Uganda in 2017 as a Community Based Organization with Registeration Number KYG/178/17.

Date of Establishment: 5th January, 2017Legal Registration: UNSAI is registered as a Community Based Organization  with  Kayunga District Local Government, Kayunga District Community Development Office and Kayunga District NGO Forum bearing Reg: No  KYG/178/17
